To the relief of the film industry, theatres have announced that they will reopen following a period of relaxation in curbs around the world. While most of us have grown accustomed to watching new releases on our smart TVs and laptops, many people still yearn for the authentic movie-going experience that can only be found in a physical theatre. Thankfully, that isn’t an issue for the time being, and Bollywood has a long list of fantastic releases planned for this year. Here are 7 Bollywood films that you should not miss in 2022!
1. Ram Setu– 24th October 2022
Ram Setu is a Hindi drama film about an archaeologist who goes on an exploratory mission to find whether the Ram Setu bridge mentioned in the Ramayana is a myth or reality.
2. Gangubai Kathiawadi– 25 February 2022
Gangubai Kathiawad is a biographical crime drama loosely based on the life of a real sex worker mentioned in S. Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. This much-anticipated Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, starring Alia Bhatt, suppose to released in 2021, but the pandemic derailed it. Since COVID has declined in India and theatres are reopening, the film will now be released in February 2022.
3. Laal Singh Chaddha– 14 April 2022
Aamir Khan’s next film, Laal Singh Chaddha, is set to hit theatres in early 2022, making it one of the most anticipat on this list. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of the Oscar-winning American drama Forrest Gump (1994), which was based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name.
4. Prithviraj (पृथ्वीराज)– 10 June 2022
It’s mind-boggling how many films Akshay Kumar makes in a year. The actor will play Prithviraj Chauhan, and Miss World winner Manushi Chillar will make her Bollywood debut with him. Prithviraj is a period drama based on the real-life plot of legendary king Prithviraj Chauhan.
5. Gorkha – 15th August 2022
Another film by Akshay Kumar The film based on the life of war hero Major General Ian Cardozo of the prestigious Gorkha Regiment of the Indian Army, and it is set to release on Independence Day in 2022.
6. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2– 20 May 2022
It was only a matter of time before a sequel announced following the massive success of the 2007 horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiya. Surprisingly, Karthik Aryan will play the lead role instead of Akshay Kumar. The film will almost certainly be a blend of comedy, horror, and mystery.
7. Radhe Shyam– 11 March 2022
Radha Krishna Kumar wrote and directed the film Radhe Shyam. The film’s plot is set in 1970’s Europe, and it was shot in both Telugu & Hindi. Prabhas and Pooja Hegde star in this movie. Radhe Shyam is a sci-fi romantic love story
