Bollywood is known for romantic melodramas, romcoms, romantic action films and so much more. We are pure romantics at heart and it is clearly depicted in our movies.
Whether it’s a sports movie, war movie, psychological thrillers, or horror movie, there has to be a romantic plot in it. The relationship between Romance and Bollywood is eternal (janmo Janam ka Saathi). Bollywood Romantic movies have numerous shades of love.
We grew up watching movies like “Kuch Kuch Hota hai”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi gam”, “Dilwale dulhaniya le Jayenge” and so many more. We fell in love with Shahrukh Khan and absolutely adored his various roles in these movies.
“Itni jaldi itne saal beet gaye, kal h toh release hue the yeh movies”. Feels nostalgic, doesn’t it?
Now for all the lonely and single people out there, order some pizza or biryani, and binge-watch all the movies listed here. Don’t forget to purchase a tub of ice cream to go with those tears.
1. Jab We Met-
Kareena won our hearts while playing Geet. We all aspired to be like her while growing up. The confident, brave, and bubbly kudi from Punjab.
The story revolves around Geet (Kareena Kapoor) and Aditya, a heartbroken depressed businessman (Shahid Kapoor), and their journey from strangers to lovers. It’s definitely one of the best movies by Imitiaz Ali that taught us to love, live and laugh wholeheartedly.
The movie taught us many things in bits and pieces but, the two most important things are to love oneself and to never take things too seriously. Geet’s love for herself is definitely the love all of us should have for ourselves (tum khud ke favorite hone chahiye) and her cheerful and carefree attitude towards life taught us to never take things too seriously and live more at the moment.

2. Rab ne Bana di Jodi-
If jodi’s like these exist, god certainly took special care while forming them. You’ve ever heard your parents say, “humare jamane ki baat h alag thi”, and it automatically leads you to roll your eyes. Well, it might be the truth. Numerous movies have come up in the past few years but, none even comes close to the pureness this movie holds.
Surinder’s love and commitment towards his wife Tani are unparalleled. The movie revolves around Surinder and Tani. In order to impress Tani, Surinder changes into Raj, a bubble, cheerful and energetic soul. If this is what true love looks like, sign us up for it, please. Surinder’s unconditional and pure love for Tani won our hearts for sure. Remember people, never settle for less than you deserve.

3. Jaane Tuh… Ya Jaane Na-
Story to Badi simple h boss par itni bhi simple ni hai. The story revolves around two best friends Jai, a simple Rajput guy, and Aditi, a highly aggressive and impulsive girl. They make a perfect couple but refuse to accept it. It is only when they start dating other people, they realize their feelings for each other.
One of the most typical and predictable stories ever but, there lies the beauty behind it. Creating and executing a simple story is more difficult than it looks. If you were ever lucky to fall in love with your best friend, you certainly relate a lot to this story. We understand the value of things only after we lose them and so can be viewed in this movie. Jai and Aditi realize their feelings for each other only when they moved apart and started seeing other people. Don’t forget to cherish your loved ones.

4. Wake up Sid-
This movie is so relatable to this date. We imagine life to be perfect while growing up and hold so many ambitions, it is only when we grow up, we realize it’s far different from what we imagined. We are constantly confused and frustrated with our life.
The story revolves around Siddharth Mehra, a spoilt and rich college kid who learns the meaning of life and paves his way forward with the help of Aisha, an aspiring writer from Kolkata. The movie unfolds in its own beautiful way. It seems like a journey between two strangers who turned into best friends and then into lovers. We all would love to have a friend like Aisha.

5. Barfi-
Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor won our hearts as Jhilmil and Barfi through this movie. This movie was nominated for Oscar and won 7 Filmfare awards including the Best Film. The story revolves around Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor), a deaf-mute boy, and his affair with two different women, Shruti (Illeana D’Cruz), an educated young girl, and Jhilmil(Priyanka Chopra), a girl who suffers from autism. Barfi teaches us to love, laugh, and celebrate life.
This movie also gave us insight into the life of a disabled person who is filled with contempt and distress. This movie also sets a benchmark for other Bollywood romantic movies.

6. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan-
In the era of typical Bollywood movies where the damsel in distress is saved by her one and only prince charming, it is fun to view something out of the box and non-conventional. Love has no gender and no race and this movie clearly depict that. If we could sum up the story in a few simple sentences then, it would be how two men Kartik and Aman fall in love with each other but, they face opposition from Aman’s family and somehow, they end up convincing them. The new and improved Bollywood has emerged. It’s so liberating to view that we are breaking free from the old social norms and are no more restricted to the caged we were confined to in the first place.
All of us deserve to be in love with the person who would choose us above everything else and go above and beyond to make us happy. Minor factors such as gender, race, caste, skin color, etc. are insignificant.

We hope you enjoy watching these movies as much as we enjoyed writing about them. Ab hum chalte hai, aap movie enjoy kariye.
