When you hear the wordsIndian tv shows, doesn’t it take you back to countless memories. Well, it certainly does to me.  I remember, back in my school days, I used to sit with my mom with a bowl full of popcorn and we used to watch countless shows for 2 to 3 hours. It is one of my most treasured memory and I am sure, you have one of those moments too.

There were a few tv shows that made us laugh while some made us cry and some of them still live fondly in our hearts. Most of us are quick to jump to conclusions when it comes to naming these tv shows and well, to be honest, some of them are terrible but, what about the good ones.

You are probably questioning “what good ones”, “There were good ones?” and the answer to all these questions is “yes”, there were good ones as well. We just ignored them and based our perception of the entire industry on the terrible ones.

We have made a list of all the good tv shows you overlooked till now, so, tighten your seatbelt, and let’s dive right into this roller coaster ride.

1. Fauji-

This was the time when all of us fell in love with the unruly hair, dimple, and brown eyes boy and if you haven’t guessed it by now, it’s one and only “shah rukh khan”. The 1980s was brutal for the Hindi film industry and it touched an all-time low in terms of storytelling, acting, and filmmaking. This was the time when Shahrukh with his incredible performance, stole our hearts forever. It was his first debut as an actor and he certainly did a splendid job. Fauji is the story of Lt. Abhimanyu Rai and the other fellows who undergo strenuous training to become commandos in the Indian Army. The daily struggles of a newbie who wants to join the Indian army can be view in this show.

2. Special Squad-

You probably remember CID, and if you don’t, let me remind you with these popular dialogues, “daya, aakhir chakkar kya h”, “ab toh tumhe phansi h hogi”, “ab bach kar kaha bhagoge”. If you didn’t know about this earlier, you certainly do now. CID was once the most-watched tv show of all time with the TRP and charts at an all-time high. It was also one of the most favorite tv shows of all time. Special squad isn’t CID, it’s just one of the best detective shows of all time made on Indian television. This series has 52 episodes in total and was premiered on STAR one in November 2004. The show revolves around an elite squad of crime busters set up by the Mumbai commissioner to solve shrewdly planned and executed crimes.

3. Mahi Way-

We live in an age where body shaming and making people feel bad about themselves, is widely common. Most people all talk when it comes to body positivity but, when it comes to actually implementing it, most of us don’t so. This show would have really popular, it released right now. This show premiered on Sony Entertainment Television on 2 January 2010 and ran till 18 June 2010. The show revolves around Mahi Talwar, a free-spirited and independent young woman who was criticized by society for her physical appearance. The show contains the typical cliches you would expect like a beautiful elder sister, handsome BFF, numerous crushes, and mean neighbors (global similarity) but, it is far from a typical romantic movie with an amazing ending. It’s streaming now on Netflix, so, hurry up and watch it.

4. Kaun Banega Crorepati-

We don’t think, this show needs an introduction. The first episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati streamed on 3 July 2000 and it’s still one of the most-watched shows of all time. It has 3 seasons and 1010 episodes in total. Kaun Banega Crorepati is the Hindi version of the famous show “Who wants to be a millionaire” host by Chris Tarrant. There was a time when the shenshaah of Bollywood was losing his hold over his audience and then in the 2000s, kaun Banega crorepati was a massive hit among the audience and he gained his dominance all over again.

5. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah-

This show lives in the heart of every Indian with its witty and amusing characters and storyline. It is one of the longest-running shows in the history of Indian Television with over 3000 episodes spread over 13 years. It is still one of the most-watched and loved shows of all time. This show is the perfect example of when good content meets good quality, it’s deem to be a massive hit. The show revolves around the residents of Gokul Dham society helping each other find solutions when they face common and real-life problems.

6. Chanakya-

India is famous for its diverse culture and its high time, we start exploring them. Chanakya is a 47 part drama epic Indian television historical drama written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. It originally telecasted on DD National from 8th September 1991 to 9 August 1992. Chanakya is a series based on the life and times of the 4th century BCE Indian economist, strategist, and political theorist Chanakya and the events occurring between 340 BCE and 321/20 BCE.

7. Office Office-

This show revolves around Mussadilal, a common man, who struggles to get work at different government offices due to corruption and inefficiency. Office – Office is an Indian television sitcom, that premiered on SAB TV on 3 September 2001. The show was a satirical attempt at the broken government system of India and the widespread corruption in India. If you haven’t watched this show, you definitely should get start already.
