Adele is one step closer to achieving EGOT status after receiving an Emmy for her television concert special, Adele: One Night Only.
The phrase refers to celebrities who have received the four most prestigious US awards: the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, which encompass television, music, cinema, and theater, respectively.

Adele's Emmy award joins her 15 Grammys and Oscar for her work on the Bond theme Skyfall. "I'm overjoyed!" exclaimed the star after receiving her latest award. "You can count on me to have an EGO."
The presentation featured a candid conversation with Oprah Winfrey as well as a performance at Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory, which was attended by celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Ava DuVernay, Selena Gomez, Drake, Kris Jenner, and Ellen DeGeneres.
The latter also takes Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr one step closer to EGOT status - needing just a Tony Award to complete the collection.
RuPaul received his eighth Emmy for presenting the hit reality show RuPaul's Drag Race. This takes his overall number of Emmy awards to 12, the most for any black performer in Emmy history.
